The original intention with Modes was to create a small ecommerce site to shift SALE stock. However the two Modes Bridal and Eventwear sites had become old and hard to use. The business was getting feedback from clients that the site was difficult to navigate and they were also losing rankings to other newer sites with a better customer experience.
Modes was managing two sites – one for bridal and one for eventwear which meant two sites to maintain, two sites to rank. While the sites had historically ranked on page 1 for many keywords, digital technology had moved on and Modes was starting to lose market share. Competitors were also moving to ecommerce and Modes was at risk of being left behind losing market share and brand voice.
Modes also invested in professionally written website copy for the home page and category descriptions which were mapped to the keywords we wanted to rank the page for. The results were immediate with rankings quickly moved back to page 1 and a massive increase in sessions and engagement metrics like time on site, pages per session and bounce rate.
